Dungeon Lords ... my top 'want' for 2005. This game looks to combine a 3rd person RPG like Gothic II with the combat styling of JKII.

The 'beta demo' is fun, but has numerous issues. It doesn't feel as 'smooth' as JKII in terms of movement or combat, but then the settings down't work ... I'm very optimistic!

... another new try at keeping this blog alive.

Let's see how I do

I've taken quite a while away ... but hope to be back more regularly!

I've been doing a fair amount of gaming - it is hard not to with all of the quality releases lately.

My favorite? Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. What?!?! Not Half-Life 2? Nope.

And certainly not Medal of Honor Pacific Assault, which I think is very over-rated by the gaming media at ~80%

Spiderman 2 at the Drive-in

It is now the morning after ...

We took the boys to see Spiderman 2 last night, at the Tri-Town Drive-In in Lunenburg. A few thoughts:

- The movie was very good. I liked it better in many ways than the first. I've always liked Tobey Maguire, but Kirsten Dunst was much better in this one.

- The boys did pretty well with it. I wasn't so worried about Danny - he's ready for this stuff. But Chris freaked when we saw the Dementor's hand in the trailer for Harry Potter at the IMAX, thus deciding we'd not be seeing that in 'large view'. He did good, a bit scared at times, but no nightmares, not talk of leaving early.

- The drive-in experience was interesting. The place was in need of a 'refresh' ... or something. We packed our dinner and snacks, and fold-up chairs, opened the back of the van and used the full speaker set. But there is so much 'stufff' going on, it is rather distracting.

We all agreed that it was a good movie, and that we had a fun time, and that we'd rather go to the cinema ...

Danny gets his face on a postcard!

We spent the day at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts over April vacation, and they had tons of stuff for the kids, including a 'design a postcard' setup as part of the MFA's Japanese exchange program. The basic idea was to make a postcard, which would be shared with the Japanese fine arts museum, and then all the postcards from Japan would be shared in the US.

So yesterday we get the announcement for the viewing event in August, and who should appear in the lower right corner but our older son Danny (7). Check it out!

Neverwinter Nights Update

I had decided to pick up NWN for the Mac after it came out.

I figured it would be some fun while I waited for Jedi Academy, and that it would help me get my RPG 'skillz' in place for KOTOR.

I didn't figure I'd absolutely love this game. But I do. Who would have thought that a FPS gamer of 20+ years (ok, it was Castle Wolfenstein back then, can't really call that a FPS, but you get the picture) would be so into an RPG? Not me.

So I've been playing probably 70+ hours and getting near the end of Chapter 3. Whew this is one long game ...
OK ... so I've been playing some of Jedi Academy, which I picked up on Wednesday (the 17th) while the young lady at my local EBGames was still unpacking them.

I also picked up the Strategy guide on impulse ... oh well ... I'll not look at it until I'm done.

StarWarsKnights.com - Knights of the Old Republic The home site of this year's (so far) big mondo game. Sure everyone knew it would be great ... but THIS good?!?!?
Hi all!

Just wanted to start posting some thoughts leading up to the release of the new Jedi Academy game!
